About the Role

 

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, commercially focused legal guidance, providing strategic advice and representation across the full lifecycle of litigation, disputes, and regulatory investigations.

 

This is a permanent position based in our Docklands office with a hybrid working environment (2-3 days in the office per week).

 

  • Litigation and Disputes Management including early identification, investigation, prospects and strategy development and resolution.
  • Support regulatory compliance by managing investigations and enforcement actions, advising on regulatory risks, and monitoring regulatory changes impacting the business.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance on contentious and regulatory matters to senior leaders and the Board, ensuring alignment with business strategy and governance frameworks.
  • Represent EnergyAustralia in negotiations, mediations, and other dispute resolution forums.
  • Support initiatives to uplift organisational capability in managing litigation, disputes, and regulatory enforcement.
  • Contribute to the preparation and presenting of reports on the status and outcomes of litigation and regulatory disputes.

 

About you

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Law and a current practising certificate in Victoria.
  • Strong understanding of litigation, dispute resolution, and regulatory enforcement processes in a reputable Australian law firm or in-house.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex, high-stakes legal matters and achieving commercially sound outcomes.
  • Experience representing organisations in contentious matters with reputational, financial, or operational impact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex legal concepts.
