Job Description
Scrum Master / Project Manager
Business Unit:  Technology
Sourcing Location:  Victoria

About the role:

Reporting to the Delivery Leader, Technology Trading & Ops, the senior scrum master / project manager will lead delivery across two cross-functional DevSecOps squads within the Trading & Transition business unit at EnergyAustralia. This is a senior role for someone who can operate as both a hands-on scrum master and a confident project manager – keeping squads running day to day while also owning the governance layer that provides visibility and confidence. You will operate as the single point responsible for delivery integrity – keeping squads effective day‑to‑day and giving senior stakeholders confidence that commitments, risks and dependencies are actively managed. Responsibilities include:

  • Own and drive delivery across the Trading Persistent Team's product portfolio, managing design and scope, roadmap commitments, risks and stakeholder expectations on an ongoing basis
  • Facilitate scrum ceremonies – sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and retrospectives – across two cross-functional squads, removing impediments and driving continuous improvement.
  • Partner with product owners to maintain prioritised, well-groomed backlogs, ensuring stories are clearly defined, estimated and aligned to business value before entering a sprint.
  • Lead and uplift delivery maturity and ways of working across the team, coaching on scrum and agile practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary contact for senior business and technology stakeholders, providing transparent status reporting, escalation management and executive-level communication.
  • Drive delivery governance: product and squad health reporting, dependency management, budget management and steering committee preparation and facilitation, in line with enterprise delivery standards.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to coordinate architecture and design, environment management and release planning across the squads.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership to the cross‑functional team, focusing on team effectiveness and delivery outcomes

You're an experienced scrum master and project professional with a strong track record in persistent, product-based teams operating in complex, regulated environments.
