Purpose of role

As our Renewable Energy Engineer, you’ll help design, develop and implement renewable energy systems and technologies for residential and commercial customers alike. We have several evolving commercial opportunities which has led to increased demand for engineering capability, and hence we’re looking for a full-time permanent resource to join our Melbourne based team.

 

Key aspects of the role include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Prepare residential solar PV system designs and quotations using tools such as Helioscope, AutoCAD, Pylon and OpenSolar.
  • Accurately size systems based on customer energy usage, roof layouts, shading analysis, and site constraints.
  • Develop cost estimates including equipment selection, installation requirements, and pricing.
  • Develop strong knowledge of residential solar and battery products and solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with project teams to optimise energy efficiency and sustainability.
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian legislation, standards and safety requirements is front of mind for all design’s and installations.
  • Act as a technical support point for residential sales enquiries and customer queries.
  • Provide clear and timely technical advice to sales consultants to support conversions
  • Liaise with customers, sales consultants, and installers to ensure designs are practical and installation-ready   
  • Assist in preparing customer proposals and resolving design related queries
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth transition from sale to installation.

 

About you

This role requires you to work collaboratively with a host of stakeholders, and hence we’re looking for a strong blend of technical engineering skills mixed with commercial acumen and the ability to present and communicate technical information in a simplistic way.

 

We’d love to see the following qualifications, skills and experiences: 

  • Prior experience in Renewable Energy, including evidence of project. design experience in Residential and Commercial projects (with battery design experience highly desirable).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is essential.
  • SAA Certification in Solar & Battery Design (highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of the energy market and emerging energy solutions.
  • Experience interfacing with residential and business clients (highly desirable).
  • Commercial acumen through assessing solution feasibility and managing project costs.
  • Attention to detail comes naturally; accuracy and consistency of your design and estimation work is second to none.
