About the project:
Energy Australia’s purpose is to lead and accelerate the clean energy transformation for all. This includes managing the transition, over time, from reliance on coal-fired generation to a lower emissions future which includes wind, solar and hydro generation supported by energy storage and flexible gas turbine generators.
The next project we intend to bring forward into execution is the 250MW/4hr Mount Piper BESS Stage 1 project. MPBESS Stage 1 is well advanced in development, with planning approvals in place, support from the Commonwealth Government in the form of a CIS Agreement, preferred contractors selected and design development progressing through an ECI agreement.
About the role:
The purpose of the BESS Project Director role is to lead the project through the final stages of development planning and through the execution phase to operational handover. Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver the project safely, monitor progress and expenditure against the planned work program, maintain reliable cost and schedule forecasts
- Develop and lead the project team, building on the capability that has guided the project through earlier stages of development planning and establish the owner’s team for the Development and Execution phases.
- Establish, build and manage the key contractor relationships for the project, promoting openness, communication and clear expectations.
- Establish positive relationships and represent the project to all key internal and external stakeholders
- Be an HSSE leader within EnergyAustralia, with a strong focus on contractor HSSE performance and behavioural HSSE programs
Be Impactful when you are applying:
Success in this role will require leverage of deep experience in engineering & construction project development within the power generation, utility, or related heavy industry field - Additionally the successful individual will have most of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Additional qualifications in Project Management or Business (desirable)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in senior project leadership roles
- Demonstrated end-to-end experience and success in delivering large development projects under a range of contract forms
- Experience with large scale Li-ion battery supply chain, installation and commissioning
- Deep experience with project finance using SPV and limited recourse debt structures
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in safety, environmental and quality standards.
