About Us

Globally, energy markets are in transition to a net zero future and the entities within these markets are transforming their underlying business models to ensure that they stay relevant, sustainable and profitable. As one of Australia’s largest energy providers, we are proud of our purpose to lead and accelerate the clean energy transformation.  Our ability to deliver on this purpose will be dependent on our people.

As the energy sector rapidly evolves with electrification, renewables, and sustainability at the forefront, we are delivering innovative centralised energy solutions to meet the needs of modern communities.

About the role

The Compliance Control Lead will join a newly formed team supporting our Customer division across all compliance and regulatory matters. Join us as we start a significant transformation where you will play a key role in implementing regulatory change, strengthening our compliance environment and shaping the customer experience.

You will be a trusted partner to the Customer Business Unit, leaning into various compliance matters, with your own portfolio of stakeholders. This role combines expertise with proactive problem-solving, working autonomously to tackle complex challenges and support the delivery of practical solutions. Acting as an advocate between first and second line compliance, you will work autonomously as a trusted partner, designing and reviewing controls, monitoring performance, responding to incidents, and driving continuous improvement to ensure compliance is seamlessly embedded into day-to-day operations.

This is a permanent position based at our Docklands office with a hybrid working environment. Responsibilities include;

  • Be a trusted compliance partner to the Customer Business Unit, providing expert guidance on compliance, risk mitigation, and control uplift.
  • Monitor and review compliance performance, risks, and controls, ensuring effective management, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Support operational risk assessments, change initiatives, and the embedding of compliance controls into systems and processes.
  • Provide independent oversight of incidents and breaches, supporting investigations, root-cause analysis, and remediation planning and delivery.
  • Advise on and drive remediation of control gaps identified through testing, assurance, and audit activities.
  • Build compliance capability through coaching, training, recognition of strong performance, and support regulatory change implementation.

About you

  • Strong experience in Line 1 compliance roles within the energy industry, a regulator or another highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated success in supporting compliance activities, strengthening controls, and improving compliance outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across the business and influence positive outcomes.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex compliance requirements into clear and accurate actions
  • Ability to prioritise, adapt, and deliver strong compliance outcomes in a fast-paced environment, with experience in retail energy regulation desirable.
