About the role
As the Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Specialist, your role will provide expert HSSE guidance, oversees contractor safety and performance, conducts audits, and champions site risk management to ensure compliance.
This is a permanent position primarily based onsite at Hallett Power Station, operating on a 9-day fortnight with occasional flexibility to work from home, depending on station requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management of incidents, hazards, near misses, and injuries, including investigation, action tracking, and lesson sharing.
- Coordinate and implement all site‑based HSSE systems to ensure effective safety and risk management.
- Develop, review, and maintain site documentation and risk registers, implementing controls to reduce risk to ALARP and communicating key risks to site and corporate leadership.
- Ensure full compliance with WHS, environmental, regulatory, licensing, and technical requirements.
- Lead site contractor HSSE management from planning through execution to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Develop and oversee competency verification and assessment frameworks and conduct internal and external HSSE and regulatory audits, including close‑out of findings.
About you
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline, with significant experience in a similar HSSE role.
- Demonstrated expertise in HSSE management systems, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of power generation or heavy industry operations, including plant, maintenance, and risk management.
- Proven understanding of applicable health, safety, security, environmental, and statutory requirements for power generation assets.
- Extensive contractor management experience from engagement and onboarding through to performance monitoring and site execution.
- Ability to positively influence safety culture, challenge unsafe behaviours, and drive continuous improvement.
